The project

One house, three transformations.

The owners wanted a kitchen that opened onto the garden, a proper front entrance and gardens they could actually use. We designed a 6 m single-storey rear extension with full-width glazed doors and a large roof light, a brick front extension to create an entrance hall, and rebuilt both gardens.

Inside, the house was fully refurbished — stripped back to the joists, rewired and replumbed, with a new kitchen with Shaker-style units, an island and herringbone flooring opening onto the garden, and a fully refinished living room.

At the back, a sloping, overgrown garden became a porcelain terrace with rendered retaining walls and wide steps up to a level lawn. At the front, a new gravel garden, low walls and steps complete the picture.
