Whole-house renovation — Northwood

What's included

Everything a house needs, coordinated as one project.

A full renovation touches every trade in the building — structural work, electrics, plumbing, heating, plastering, joinery and decoration. The difference between a calm renovation and a stressful one is how well those trades are sequenced and managed.

  • Reconfiguring layouts and knocking through, with steels designed by our engineers
  • Rewiring, replumbing and new heating systems
  • New kitchens, bathrooms, floors, doors and joinery
  • Period and listed property repairs with appropriate materials
  • Loft conversions and extensions combined into the same project

Living through a renovation

We plan the disruption as carefully as the build.

Most families stay at home during a renovation. We phase the work room by room where we can, keep a working kitchen and bathroom for as long as possible, seal off dust, and agree working hours. Your project manager sends a written update every week so you always know what's coming next.

FAQs

Questions we're often asked

Can we live in the house during a full renovation?

Often yes, with careful phasing. For the heaviest phases — rewiring, replumbing, structural work — some families choose to move out for a few weeks. We'll plan it with you.

Can you remove a load-bearing wall?

Yes. Our structural engineers design the steel and padstones, and building control inspect the work. See structural engineering.

Do you work on period and listed homes?

Yes. Listed buildings need listed building consent for most changes, and we use materials and methods appropriate to the building.

Client review

★★★★★
“I can not recommend AMH Build Group enough, we bought our home in May that needed pretty much everything doing to it before we could move in, and to be honest, we were quite nervous about the whole process. We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted, but we also needed a company we could trust to actually deliver it. […] They took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve and the end result is honestly better than we expected. The house has been completely transformed and the finish throughout is excellent. One of the biggest things for us was how clean and organised they kept everything. With a full refurbishment going on, we expected dust and mess everywhere, but they were really respectful of the fact that this was going to be our family home. There were a few things we changed along the way and nothing ever seemed like a problem. They were easy to deal with, gave us good advice when we needed it and actually cared about getting things right. We’re absolutely delighted with our home and would happily recommend AMH Build Group to anyone looking for a builder.”
